Mother Hen and the Masters Test

Though I'm an old mother hen and very proud to be
I've always felt more comfortable around roosters
and what they say to me
-
A group of old hens are vicious and always ready to attack
They even talk about each other say things you can't take back
Roosters are not that way they mind their own business need be
they help each other and make good friends and run the roost you see
-
They crow about the big picture not discuss all this petty talk
Making mountains out of molehills they just strut and gawk
The old hens they form a click some think they're better than the other
They spread gossip about their friends and each takes it a little bit further
-
Personally I like to stay in the barnyard wander pretty much on my own
When I want a serious conversation I find a rooster and invite him home
The old hens think I'm kinda strange that I'm stuck up and better than the rest
I'd like to call a meeting of the roosters in the barnyard and put that question
to the masters test

Trout Streams
In past days, my love and I
would travel to the Colorado mountain streams
Roughing the trails, and enjoying the challenge
fishing for rainbow trout, while fulfilling our dreams
The rough waters would flow down the mountain pass
fly fishing was tremendous fun
trailing along with the waters flow, sometimes we had to run
Reeling the trout in that we caught, so beautiful in the sun
The colors reflected the rays of same,
in Heavenly beauty, in aura of one
No longer do I fish, for trout in the streams
as my love has passed away
But often wonder if streams exist in Heaven
where he can fish all day
I sense that he would be happy, and remember our yesterday

if there ever was an angel
who lived here on this earth
it had to be my mother Pearl
she was pure in all her worth

she worked hard to be the perfect mother
took great care in all she did
she never ask for help of anyone
just dealt with what she bid
-
she set a good example to all in her view
she loved us as an only child
took special interest just with you
loving you all the while
-
her appearance was immaculate
with pride from head to toe
she always wore a crisp ironed apron
for visitors that might show
-
her homemade meals were quite exquisite
served hot and right on time
she always added her special touch
a trim or touch of her own kind
-
she worked hard on daily chores
for her there were so many
she made sure we went to school
to prepare us for our beginning
-
she stood behind us with moral support
and praised us for things we did
she corrected us when we made mistakes
then called us one great kid
-
we all went to church early Sunday
no one allowed to stay home in bed
we were there to praise the word of God
and listen close to what the minister said

Gripe Away

Each of us have a gripe
and we just need to complain
We know that others have one too
and suffer with problems and pain
We know the problem is ours to solve
as we shed our crystal tears
We just want someone to listen
and tell us that they care
Sometime if someone would just listen
and let us talk a little while
We could free our mind of worry
and laugh or crack a smile
Many of us live alone
as we move into elder years
It seems that time is moving fast
and that no one really cares
Our gripes and complaints are similar
as we deal with progress and fear
It is a comforting feeling to me
just knowing you are near
So today I offer an open ear
and let you gripe away
Maybe I can't solve your problems
but I wish you a happy day
